Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite books that will help to empower and awaken your soul. Even if you chose only one book below to read, it should improve the way you live your life in at least one way.
Reading is one of my most prioritized habits because it positively adds to every area of my life. I know it adds value because I never walk away from a reading session feeling like I wasted my time. Whether it be improvement within my business, relationships or my own personal growth – reading is where it’s at.
One of my favourite genres is self-help because even if you don’t think you have something to work on – you always learn something new about yourself or other people. I’ll be reading along and then something just clicks… and I’m basically a changed woman. For reference, even if I only get one little mindset shift or one positive change in perspective – I consider the time I spent reading that book a success. Not all chapters will be winners, but it only takes one sentence to make a lasting impact.
The books below have made a positive imprint on my life and I believe anyone can benefit from reading them. Even if you’re not the non-fiction type, there’s no harm in giving it a try. The key with these books (and pretty much all books) is to remain open while you’re reading them.
Maybe you’re a Tony Robbins fan, maybe not. Either way, I honestly feel everyone should read this book. Intentional living is something I aim for each day and this book expanded that definition for me. How to be intentional with the exact words you use to talk to yourself and others, with your reactions no matter what life throws at you, with your daily habits, with your personal values and so much more.
This book is perfect for learning more about how you and the people around you work, how to live a little bit better and how to transform into the best version of yourself.
Essentially a guidebook to reconnecting with your soul, tuning into your intuition and focusing on the things that light you up. It’s quite spiritual, internal and will probably make you uncomfortable if you’re not used to thinking about these kinds of topics (which I personally always view as a bonus). This book helped to unlocked a pretty big part of myself that was lying dormant for a long time and brought it right to the surface – and I’m hoping it can do the same for you! The layout is a little different, with the ‘chapters’ being only a page or two. Sometimes I’ll simply use it like a book of answers. Grab it off the shelf, turn to a page and voila – my message for the day.
This book is for anyone who wants to do some soul searching or is open to exploring some New Age topics.
Randy Pausch was a computer science professor diagnosed with terminal cancer, and this book is about his last lecture titled, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.” It will really drill in the the thing you’ve heard a million times before: don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s emotional, funny, heartfelt and after reading this book you’ll really want to just get out there and live. This is a short read that made me cry and is good to revisit as a reminder to be present and grateful.
4. You Are A Badass: How To Stop Doubting Your Greatness And Start Living An Awesome Life by Jen Sincero
If you’ve ever had this feeling that you’re meant for more than what your life currently looks like – read this! This book will make it feel good and okay to fully step into your power and truly feel like the total badass you are. It will give you the confidence to go after everything you want in life, take all those big leaps and explains why this doesn’t have to be scary. It’s the pep talk you’ve always needed and I recommend this one to all entrepreneurs!
If you’ve never read poetry before, these two books by Rupi Kaur may convert you. They are raw, powerful, relatable and I think, a must-read for every woman. I finished each of them in one sitting.
So there you have it, 5 (actually, 6) reads I recommend! Although I know I’m currently reading a serious contender for this list, as I’m about halfway through The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer. I’m fairly certain reading lists like these will become a regularly occurring thing!
If you’re into books, you can follow me on GoodReads to see what I’ve read and what I’m currently reading.
Have you read any of the above books? Have you read any books that changed your life? I’m always looking to add to my list!
Books can be dangerous. The best ones should be labeled “This could change your life.” –Helen Exley
